Basic Information

Kvilda is one of the most important tourist resorts in the Bohemian Forest. It is the highest-altitude municipality in the Czech Republic (1065 m above sea level), located in the middle of the beautiful Bohemian Forest plains.

The cadastral area of the municipality includes the defunct village of Bučina as well as the nearby settlements of Františkov, Vydří Most, Hraběcí Huť, and Lesní Domky.

The municipality is administered by a municipal office. There is a post office, a museum, an educational center (lectures, gallery), the Šumava National Park information center, a grocery store, a well-known bakery, and many services for tourists.
